SUBMISSIONS

The Editorial Process
TALISIK, which previously published issues in August, now releases its CfP from January to March and publishes issues in December. All announcements are released on the journal’s official Facebook page.

Initial screening of submissions. All submissions are checked for plagiarism content and author information or identifying marks before proceeding further to the review process. In this initial stage, the author will receive a confirmation email from the editors once their submissions have passed the initial screening and will undergo further review from the associate editors and an external referee. It is important to take note that the journal reserves the right to refuse submissions that do not comply with the stylistic standards of the journal.

Deliberation of the Editorial Board. Manuscripts that passed the initial screening are prepared for a triple-blind review: (1) the author shall not know who the external referees are, (2) the external referees must not be informed of any author information, and (3) the associate editors must not be informed of any information on the author and referees.  First, the associate editors are to deliberate whether to accept or reject the manuscript. For accepted journal articles, they will be recommended to an external referee for further review. While accepted Agora and book reviews will once again undergo a second review from the associate editors. Meanwhile, manuscripts that did not pass the deliberation will be notified of the decision with justification. If appropriate, the editors provide comments and suggestions on the manuscript. This is because TALISIK aims to contribute to the flourishing of all the works of undergraduate students, even those that are not published.

The external referee further reviews journal articles. To maintain and ensure the quality of research, accepted journal articles are recommended to an external referee who specializes in the subject matter of the article. External referees typically come from professors or researchers from various universities in the Philippines. The referee determines whether the article is to be accepted with no revisions, accepted but with revisions, or rejected. Every referee submits a refereeing report to be sent to the author, denoting one cycle of the review process. The cycle continues until the article returns to the reviewer for the third time up to which the reviewer can only accept or reject the manuscript for publication. The same principle applies to the reviewing of Agora and book reviews by the associate editors.

Technical editing and the publication process. All manuscripts accepted for publication undergo proofreading and copy editing by all members of the editorial board. They may be returned to the author for refurbishing. Finally, the Layout Editor prepares the issue for publication.

Release of the issue. TALISIK only publishes in December and issues the publication electronically on its website, with a subsequent announcement being released on the journal’s official Facebook Page. Certificates signed by the Editor-in-Chief and the Chairperson of the Department of Philosophy of UST will only be released to all published authors and participating referees after the release of the issue.

General Guidelines
1. TALISIK: An Undergraduate Journal of Philosophy accepts submissions from undergraduate students and graduate students who have yet to obtain a master’s degree. While the journal primarily caters to the works of philosophy students, it also accepts submissions from other fields as long as manuscripts have strong philosophical content.

2. All submitted manuscripts must not be in consideration or under review for publication in other journals.

3. Authors must prepare their manuscripts for blind review. This means that any information that may disclose the identity of the author must not appear in the manuscript. If an author is citing their own work, please delete that reference and place <author’s reference> in lieu of the actual citation.

4. Submissions must be in .doc file format. Submit your manuscripts along with a short bio note via email to talisik.journal@gmail.com. Only submissions sent to our email address will be considered as an official entry to every issue’s Call for Papers. Kindly take note of the following format:
